California | క్రిస్మస్ వేళ అమెరికాలోని కాలిఫోర్నియా (California) రాష్ట్రాన్ని వరదలు (flooding) ముంచెత్తాయి. తుఫాను కారణంగా బలమైన గాలులతో కూడిన కుండపోత వర్షం కురిసింది. ఈ వర్షానికి వరదలు చుట్టుముట్టాయి. అనేక ప్రాంతాలు నీట మునిగాయి. రోడ్లన్నీ నదులను తలపిస్తున్నాయి. కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో బురద పేరుకుపోయింది. వాహనాలు, ఇండ్లు వరద ప్రవాహానికి కొట్టుకుపోయాయి. పలు ప్రాంతాల్లో మట్టి చరియలు విరిగిపడటంతో రహదారులు మూసికుపోయాయి. కీలక హైవేలను అధికారులు మూసివేశారు (shut down major highways). వరద ప్రభావం ఎక్కువగా ఉన్న ప్రాంతాల్లోని ప్రజలు ఇళ్లను ఖాళీ చేయాలని అధికారులు ఆదేశించారు. లాస్ ఏంజిల్స్ కౌంటీలోని కొన్ని ప్రాంతాల్లో 27 సెంటీమీటర్ల వర్షపాతం నమోదైంది. ఈ వరదలకు ముగ్గురు ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయినట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
