వాఘా : ఇండియా, పాకిస్థాన్ బోర్డ‌ర్ ఎప్పుడూ హై అల‌ర్ట్ జోనే. అయితే వాఘా బోర్డ‌ర్(Wagah Border) వ‌ద్ద రోజు సాయంత్రం జ‌రిగే క‌వాత్తు ఓ స్పెష‌ల్ అట్రాక్ష‌న్‌. టూరిస్టులు ఆ ప్ర‌దేశానికి వెళ్లి .. కాసేపు ఆ ఉద్రిక్త‌ల‌ను మ‌రిచిపోతుంటారు. ఇలాంటి సంద‌ర్భంలోనే ఓ అరుదైన దృశ్యం చోటుచేసుకున్న‌ది. జాతీయ జెండాల అవ‌న‌త‌నం త‌ర్వాత .. ఓ భార‌త ఆర్మీ ఆఫీస‌ర్‌కు చెందిన భార్య.. పాకిస్థాన్ రేంజ‌ర్‌తో ఫోటో దిగింది. ఆమె అడ‌గ్గానే అక్క‌డ ఉన్న పాక్ రేంజ‌ర్ .. ఫోటోకు ఫోజు ఇచ్చాడు. ఇక ఆ త‌ర్వాత పాక్ రేంజ‌ర్ త‌న హుందాత‌నాన్ని చాటుకున్నారు. స‌మీపంలో ఉన్న భార‌తీయ ఆర్మీ ఆఫీస‌ర్‌కు సెల్యూట్ చేశాడు.
ఆ సెల్యూట్‌కు ప్ర‌తిగా భార‌త ఆఫీస‌ర్ కూడా పాక్ రేంజ‌ర్‌కు సెల్యూట్ చేశారు. ఈ ఘ‌ట‌నకు చెందిన వీడియో ప్ర‌స్తుతం వైరల్ అవుతుంది. అయితే నెటిజెన్లు దీనిపై రియాక్ట్ అవుతున్నారు. అత‌నో ప్రొఫెష‌న‌ల్ సోల్జ‌ర్ అని, ర్యాంక్ ఆఫీస‌ర్‌కు సెల్యూట్ చేశాడ‌ని ఒక‌రు అన్నారు. ఇండో, పాక్ స‌మ‌స్య కాదు.. ప్ర‌తి ఒక్క‌రికీ గౌర‌వం ఇవ్వాల‌న్నదానికి ఇది సంకేతం మ‌ని మ‌రొక‌రు రియాక్ట్ అయ్యారు. దేశం ఏదైనా ఆర్మీలో క్ర‌మ‌శిక్ష‌ణ ఉంటుంద‌ని, ఆ గౌర‌వాన్ని పాక్ రేంజ‌ర్ ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడ‌ని కొంద‌ర‌న్నారు.
A Pakistani Ranger saluting a senior BSF officer after a photograph is actually a nice little moment. This is how it should be, really. You can have all the disagreements and still retain basic professional courtesy.
But what I still cannot quite understand is the point of this whole Attari-Wagah circus. The screaming, the exaggerated marching, the absurdly high kicks and all that theatrical chest-thumping have never struck me as particularly dignified. A border is serious business. I am not sure why it needs to be turned into a daily spectacle for an audience. If there is a genuine tourism or commercial rationale for keeping it going, perhaps that explains its longevity. Otherwise, I would happily see the theatrics go and the border remain a border.
